Fourteen in 14

Uncategorized
I’m linking up with Tara, Hadar, and Kristin for my Fourteen in 14.  Be sure to link up, here.

I love this quote! There are so many things in life that are out of your control and sometimes all you can say is “it is what it is.”

Ann Taylor Loft is my favorite store and I love all of their cardigans.  Works perfectly for school or in colder weather!  I have many like this one above.

My favorite movie that I saw this year was “Gone Girl.” I read the book and loved parts of it and the movie was just as good! If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

I have 2 new favorite series this year – both on USA.  I loved the new shows Rush and Satisfaction. Neither are very teacher appropriate lol, but very fun dramatic out there shows! And, my fiancé enjoys watching them with me.

My favorite restaurant for 2014 would be Café Zupa. I love their salads and sandwiches.

Orange chicken. I’m a very picky eater and Andy finally convinced me to try orange chicken and I absolutely loved it!

Andy gave me two of our engagement photos printed on canvas for us to put up in our place for Christmas. Love this thoughtful gift!

Anything wedding has been my favorite thing pinned. I’m getting married in June so Pinterest and I have been best friends. The picture above isn’t my favorite but I didn’t want to give anything away :-).

My favorite blog post this year would be my classroom reveal. I’m at a new school and I love it! I have a huge classroom with 4 windows! I even have a view of the Las Vegas Strip.  I’m so excited about my new school and love how it all turned out!
Here’s my post…

My favorite accomplishment this year would be being asked and able to attend a forum in Florida. Since I’m at a private school our PD is done differently.  We do have in house PD, but they also get all the schools together three times a year for a forum.  Our schools are all over – New York, Florida, Texas, AZ, Mexico, China, Switzerland.  It was neat to be asked to be part of it and a big accomplishment to attend and now get to help train our teachers at our site.

My favorite memory for this year would be Andy’s and my Arizona trip over Spring Break and picking our wedding location.  We loved the Arizona Grand Resort on our visit and will be getting married their June 2015!

Get in shape! With the upcoming wedding and life in general, I really want to get in shape this upcoming year!

Flexibility – my life is a little crazy sometimes since I’m marrying a coach. His schedule is up in there as is my school schedule sometimes and I need to work on flexibility.

Thanks for checking out my Fourteen in 14! Be sure to link up!

November Currently

Uncategorized
I’m linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for November Currently.  Can’t believe how fast October went and November and December are going to fly by even faster!

Listening: Who doesn’t love Sunday night chores??  Trying to get laundry done and ready for the week.

Loving:  Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year and I’m so excited that it’s almost time to start decorating. Seeing all of the holiday stuff out at the stores has put me in the holiday spirit early!

Thinking:  I’m very lucky to be heading to Florida for a Differentiated Instruction Forum at one our sister schools.  I’m super excited to go, but I keep thinking about all of the things I need to do before I leave.  3 days of Sub plans…

Wanting: We had a 3 day weekend (Friday off for Nevada Day).  I could so use another day or two.  For some reason, the longer weekends seem to move even quicker.

Needing:  That to do list is super long.  Between school, wedding planning, holiday season, and basketball season starting there is always a lot to do on that list. I feel like it’s hard to make a dent in it and it keeps getting longer each day.

Reading: I have a pile of books that I didn’t get to this summer. Unfortunately, I’m still not getting to them now lol.  Maybe over winter break??

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to link up with Farley!

Five for Friday – September 26

Uncategorized
In addition to not posting regularly the last few weeks (man those first weeks are hard especially at a new school) I haven’t linked up with Five for Friday in awhile.  So this week I decided to link back up with Doodle Bug for her Five for Friday.

In Math, we’ve been working on a variety of strategies for double digit addition.  My kids like the algorithm, but have no idea why it works or the conceptual understanding behind it. So, we’ve gone back to place value model, empty number line, and breaking numbers apart/expanded notation. I’m seeing great progress already!

We just got our subscription set-up for Spelling City. I’m excited to get going on it. Anyone else use it? Any tips?

We love GoNoodle brain breaks. We’ve been using it since the first day, but this caught my attention the other day. How cute do they all look linking up to do the kickline in Best Friends by Koo Koo Kangaroo.

One of my new favorite read alouds. I read it to my 2nd graders last year and we’re almost done with it this year. I love Junie B. Jones so Clementine is very similar.  It’s nice to have another funny character since Junie B is kind of played out with the kiddos by 2nd grade.

Last week, Andy and I went to AZ to do our wedding tasting.  It was so much fun and the food was AMAZING!  Here’s a picture from our night out in AZ. It was nice to get away for the weekend!

Have a great Friday and be sure to link up with Doodle Bug!

A Make Your Day Moment

Uncategorized

You know those moments in life you have that just make your day- well I had one a week or two ago courtesy of my second grade teacher. Yes you read that correctly my teacher. Here’s the back story…

My new school has a blog and they were featuring new teachers on it. We had a questionnaire to fill out with all the basic teacher questions. And in why I teach I talked about how my second grade teacher, Mrs. Stolley, inspired me to go into teaching.
Well my sweet mom sent my blog post to Mrs. Stolley and Mrs. Stolley wrote me this sweet note back.

So this goes for all teachers – we make a difference in kids lives and they will remember you. Even 21 years after the fact. I’m so grateful that Mrs. Stolley was such an amazing teacher that I wanted to be one myself. She always made it look so fun and was the kindest person.  So on those hard days teaching (and there are many) remember why you got into it and know you’re making a difference.
There’s my little pep talk for a Wednesday. Hope everyone has a great week!

September Currently

Uncategorized
Wow! August flew by! I know I say this every month, but time just keeps moving so quickly.  I’m linking up with Farley on this lovely 3 day weekend for September Currently.  Be sure to link up here.

Listening: Maroon 5 is performing on the Today Show. Maroon 5 is one of my favorite bands of all time! I even got to see them in concert last New Year’s Eve.  Not a bad start to the morning to get to watch and listen to Adam Levine lol.

Loving: the 3 day weekend! I could get used to this. 4 days on and 3 days off.  I love sleeping in and having the extra day makes me a happy girl.

Thinking: About all the work I was going to do this weekend. I’m sure I’m not the only person who does this.  On the long weekends, I always have grand plans of all of the work and home/life things I’m going to do.  Like always most of them haven’t gotten done. But, I’m sure I needed the time to relax too.

Wanting: Another day off.  One more day would help me get to that to do list right??? Or maybe have more time for the pool?

Needing: To get these math games prepared. We use Investigations at my school, which I’ve used before and I love it. But, with that love comes lots of games and lots of prep.  I’ll be watching some TV tonight and cutting out game cards.

Three Trips:
Mexico – I have been right over the border, but I’d love to go to a tropical all-inclusive resort in like Cabo or Puerto Vallerta or something.

Paris – Would love to see the Eiffel Tower and just explore all the beautiful sights

Holland – My dad is actually from Holland and live there until he was 8 years old. I’d love to see where he was from.

Be sure to link up with Farley. I’m off to find things to do to procrastinate working on that to do list :-).

August Currently

Uncategorized
Okay, so summer went by WAY TOO FAST!  I can’t believe I start new teacher training at my new school on Wednesday and the kids come August 18 and that August is already here.  I feel like it was just June 6 and summer was just beginning.

Anyways…I’m linking up with Farley for August Currently.  Be sure to link up here.

Listening – after the craziness of moving yesterday and how busy summer has been silence can be so nice :-).

Loving – My fiancé and I just moved into our new apartment yesterday.  And, it is brand new – we are the first ones to live in it! I love it!

Thinking – With moving and wedding planning going on, I haven’t gotten as much done as usual on my BTS to do list. So as I lay in bed at night anxiously unable to sleep that to do list churns through my head.

Wanting – more time! I know we always want more time, but man where did summer go? I want a few more pool days…

Needing – So, I have a lot of stuff. And, I mean a lot of stuff. Not just classroom stuff, but personal life stuff too. My fiancé fully realized how much stuff I had yesterday while moving and compared to his move-in boxes – it’s a lot lol.  So, he’s done unpacking, but I still have more stuff to go through :-).

1st Day – I’m back August 6 since I’m new to this school so I get to do new teacher training again. I’m very excited for a new school year and a fresh start!

Kids- August 18

Be sure to link up with Farley above!

Five for Friday – July 18

Uncategorized
I’m linking up with Doodle Bug for Five for Friday.  Didn’t really work on school stuff this week, but had a blast doing wedding planning in Phoenix.  See what I’ve been up to below….

Last weekend, I went down to Tucson with Andy, my fiancé for his dad’s 60th birthday party. My parents also live in Tucson so it was great being able to see everyone.

Carrie (future sister-in-law, my mom, me)

The whole group

Andy and I

Arizona Grand Resort – We’re having our wedding at this awesome resort so for wedding planning we also stayed here. This place is great if you’ve never been there. It has a golf course, water park, swimming pools, restaurants, hiking trails, etc.  Lots of stuff to do!

Rustler’s Rooste. We’re having our rehearsal dinner here so we tried it out with both of our families. Great atmosphere and great food!

My friend and bridesmaid, Jessica – love being able to catch up with people in AZ! I miss it there!

Oregano’s Pizookie – Oregano’s is one of my favorite restaurants in AZ so every time I visit I love to eat there.  Their pizookie (pizza cookie) is the best I’ve ever had!

Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies – I made these for the first time last week. Boy are they addictive – didn’t help the wedding diet lol.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I’ve been up to. Back to Vegas today so it’ll then be getting ready for back to school mode.

Happy Friday!
