My favorite thing to do on the first day of school is to have my students take a class picture! Then I take their individual pictures with their names written on white boards! I love looking back at how far they've grown over the year and these pictures are great memories!!

Last year we did a huge puzzle – each kiddo got a puzzle piece to decorate and then we put it together. I kept it up for most of the year to remind them how we are all different, but all fit together.

I like having them write their name for me to keep for the year so they can compare at the end of the year. I also like to do activities with the kids' names to start with name recognition and the importance of each person's name.
